I haven't used a packet capture pgm for a long time, so I'm a new noob.

Q: isn't it relevant what type of switch and port (and the port configuration) the capturing machine is plugged into in order to see all traffic on the LAN?
I looked through the giant fine manual and FAQ but nothing jumped out at me. just point me to what I should read....thanks!
