Does Nagios Monitor OSS Applications

Hi,

I am new to Nagios, and have set up my server with Nagios XI.

I am monitoring some of the Windows servers and other network devices in my company.

I would like to know if it possible to monitor Applications (OSS apps or other general Apps) deployed on different servers in my company? I want to know if there are any plugins available to do the same and the procedure to be followed.

Eg: I have an OSS App running on a Apache Server or a Windows Server, and the application crashes abruptly. I want to capture this problem in nagios. How do I achieve this?

Any help will be appreciated.

I use Nagios-WSC nagios-wsc.sourceforge.net/ for this purpose in house. It works wonders for monitoring windows services. Not sure how much work you want to put into it though. There are some prebuilt queries but I found them to be rather limited so I put together a couple custom WMI queries. For what you need the inbuit processes check should do what you desire.
