I have been trying to get working the op5 check_esx3 plugin. I have installed the CPAN perl module along with it’s dependancies and the VI Perl toolkit needed from VMware. I can connect using the plugin via the command line but I cannot connect using the config files. If I run the command via the CLI, I get an appropriate response. If I look at Nagios using the web interface, I get the Return code of 127 is out of bounds the plugin may be missing message.

Currently the perl file is owned by nagios and is located in my /usr/local/nagios/libexec directory where the rest of my plugins reside.
I am using Ubuntu 8.04 and Nagios 3.03.
Embedded Perl was not compiled on the initial install of Nagios.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I determined what the issue was. It was a formatting issue with the config I had created. I had done some text work within Windows and then migrated the file over to my Ubuntu setup.
