anyone with a good how to? I installed sendmail and made notifications to notify contacts by email when host is down. But no email is being received. 
can you send a mail from command line with sendmail? if not check the mail or xmail commands.

misccommands.cfg contains the syntax used by nagios to send out an email. Try it by hand and see if it works. Perhaps it will say
printf command not found or
/bin/mail command not found.
Dunno, you tell us what is wrong by pasting the output.
