How do I do such a thing? I have about 30 or more machine I would like to monitor, but I don’t want to have to maintain and create even the service definitions (6 or so for each) for each of those 30 machines.
Is there an option in nagios to support this?

One way would be to define all your hostnames in a hostgroup, and then point your service-check to that. Take a look at nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/ … ml#service

As I understand you want to distribute all nagios configuration including services remotly?
As far as I know Nagios doesn’t support this feature.
looks to me like he wants to monitor the same 6 services on 30 different hosts…
