Nagios SNMP "Problem Alert" - Switch/Uptime Check

Notification Type: PROBLEM
Service: Uptime Check
Host: 4th Floor Switch
Address: 192.168.X.X
State: CRITICAL
Date/Time: Fri Sept 5 14:17:17 EDT 2008

However the switch reads:

uptime is 2 years, 37 weeks, 5 days, 4 hours, 52 minutes
System returned to ROM by reload
System restarted at 08:06:00 EST Fri Dec 16 2005
System image file is “bootflash:cat4000-i9k91s-mz.122-18.EW.bin”

Can anyone tell me why this alert came? Makes no sense.

That is a long ass uptime. don’t you guys update your IOS?

Anyways, it probably came on because the snmp check finally couldn’t return/process such a huge number of seconds (value too big for the memory allotted to that variable). I’m assuming the SNMP request returns the uptime in seconds then maybe does some processing to make it human readable.

Lemme know if that was it
