I am new to Nagios. We are establishing an IT maintenance and support firm and we want to use sort of server monitoring application for our clients. Can we use Nagios for the same. If anyone can suggest anything better, pls let me know.

So you want to see the applications of your clients? If properly configured at firewall level it could be an option but i’m not sure as a client i would want to give full access to my applications from the internet… A possible solution would be to install a nagios server at every site you need to monitor… this way it would be only port 80 open to the internet…

Thanks for the reply. But this method will be an overhead cost to us. Also does Nagios monitor Windows based servers & applications?
As long as the info you are looking for is accessible through the windows performance monitor yes.
