I am a Linux newbie, and I have CentOS 5 running on VMWare and I have CentOS 4 running on a PC. I have the NRPE plugin configured on the PC. Nagios is monitoring as expected on both the PC and virtual machine and displaying the info in the Web Interface on both. I set up the remote NRPE plugin, but I am unable to view the remote PC in the virtual Web Interface. I followed all the Nagios technical documentation and all checks are as expected. I can PING both machines from each other and I have tried switching off all Firewalls (PC, Virtual and XP). I can receive email alerts from both Virtual and PC. I must be missing something here but I (think) I have tried everything. Nagios is 3.0.6 and nrpe plugin is 1.4.10. Any info appreciated!!!
I have Nagios running on a dedicated CentOS 4.7 machine, which also runs the NRPE Daemon. And I have Nagios as the Monitoring Server running CentOS 5.2 on a XP PC using VMware.
“I am unable to view the remote PC in the virtual Web Interface” = From the Monitoring PC (VMware), I can’t see the remote PC through the Web Interface. But each machine can tell me what version of NRPE the other is running with the commands:
“What checks do you want to do with NRPE? (from which nagios install?)” = Once up and running, I will be using the dedicated CentOS 4.7 machine as an Asterix PBX and so will be monitoring services etc.
are you running two different versions of NRPE? Or how can you tell that you see what version is running on the other box?
CentOS runs SELinux, that MAY give some problems with Linux.
