Notification: Notify one group once another group many times

Here is what I need to do. When a notification get sent out, I need to notify 2 different groups with 2 different notification intervals. I need to send an email to one account only once per status change. But to another group I need to send an email at each notification interval setup on the service.

Any way to do this? Currently, using Nagios 2.x but if Nagios 3.x can do this please let me know. I am looking for reasons to get the bosses to upgrade.

Read the docs for notification escalations. This is exactly what escalations are designed to do.
