Has anybody got NRPE running as a client on a Darwin system successfully? I understand that xinetd has been “discontinued” since the release of Tiger and launchd is the current method of running nrpe. Unfortunately I am not able to get it working at all. I have followed the instructions in nagios.org/faqs/viewfaq.php?faq_id=313 and created the xml blob. The problem is that when I “launchctl load nrpe.plist” – then “launchctl start org.nagios.nrpe” the process starts and exits right away. When I run an nrpe check locally on the localhost it works, but does not work from my Nagios server.
