Trying to check services on remote server via nagios

Hey everyone!

I’ve just installed nagios and got it up and running, and I am able to check services such as load, disk usage, and number of processes loacally on the server that nagios is hosted on, but I can’t seem to figure out how to check those services on a remote server using the check_snmp command. Could someone help me?

thanks,
Jeremiah

you need snmpd to be running on the remote server if you use check_snmp
use “man snmpd.conf” for configuration issues.
You may want to look at other methods too… check the stickies in the forum

Most switches, routers, and stuff like that has snmpd running on them by default.
