Any shortcut suggestions for service escalations?

I ran into a rather disappointing snag after setting up escalations on my services. I grouped all of my services into prioritized groups, and then the plan was to apply different escalation levels to these groups. I discovered shortly thereafter that apparently this way of setting up rules is not supported. Is this true or is there something I’m not doing right? If it is true, does anyone have any suggestions as to how easiest to set up escalation rules on services?
