Around VOIP question

Hi, I wanna ask if there is way to find out throuht Nagios, when IP phone is down, if the problem is> that the net goes down, or the problem is that the user shut down the IP phone.

I wanna know if there is way that Nagios will send diferent messages for this two types of errors:

  1. when the net goes down
  2. when the phone is turn off

Nagios supervise the equipement through icmp protocol using ping request on an IP address.

The IP phone and the router are considered as two different hosts.
So, when the phone goes down: the phone is not pingable but the client’s router is pingable and have an up status so you can deduce that the phone is shutted down.
When the net is down: the phone neither the router are not pingable.
