I havent installed the ‘make install-init’ command and the daemon-init sample script are already in the /etc/rc.d/init.d/ directory. However Nagios refuse to startup when rebooted or shutdown.
Is this due to i’m using Suse here. Or becase i run nagios but executing /etc/rc.d/rc.nagios start (change the name).
I’m new users in the linux community, so help is appreciated. Thanks!
The init script is installed, but it’s not set to start or stop automatically upon bootup or down.
That’s up to you to decide. If you do want nagios to start upon boot, then config the service.
Dunno about suse, but you should have some tool, that will allow you to do that if you don’t know how to do it my hand.
In CentOS it’s applications/system settings/Server settings/Services
This would apply to pretty much anything that you install. The init script may be there but you have to configure it yourself to start/stop on boot/shutdown.
