Delay in nitifications for host and services

hi, I am having an issue with a delay in email notification. For example, if I have a host down or critical service issue it can take up to 20 minutes before the first email notification is sent out. On the web interface the status would already reflect the critical status but no email is sent till 15-20 minutes later.

Does anyone have an idea to what is causing this or which configuration i would need to change?

Check the max_check_attempts variable in your host/service definition for which you receive delayed notifications. Maybe Nagios tries to check that host/service several time throut those 15-20 minutes to be sure if it is really down.
