How to filter Nagios alerts?

Hello,

How to stop for some services sending pointless “CHECK_NRPE: Socket timeout after 10 seconds.” alerts ? I have check_openmanage Dell plugin installed and everytime when servers make backups I receive these allerts:

Notification Type: PROBLEM

Service: DELL

State: CRITICAL

Date/Time: Wed Aug 4 02:01:35 EEST 2010

Additional Info:

CHECK_NRPE: Socket timeout after 10 seconds.

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated!

  • increase the timeout.
  • use a timeperiod to stop the checks during backup times.
