Nagios not starting

Hello,

I have gone through all the install steps and all my config files look good.

Total Warnings: 0
Total Errors: 0

Now when I go to run /etc/init.d/nagios start I get nagios started, but if I do a ps -ef |grep nagios - no PID number for it.

So I then tried /usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios -d /usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg

nothing happens and again no PID

Anything I can check to see why this is not working?

Stupid permission problem - log file showed nagios.pid was not running - I had to chown the pid file to nagios:nagios.
