New service not appearing on service list

Nagios® Core™, Version 3.2.0, August 12, 2009 on Ubuntu (Linux pot-pacs-mon 2.6.28-15-server #49-Ubuntu SMP Tue Aug 18 19:30:06 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux) under VMWare server 2.0. on Windows 2003 (quite the mess!).
Apache 2 (Server version: Apache/2.2.11 (Ubuntu), Server built: Aug 18 2009 14:26:31)

Monitored servers are RedHat Linux ( 2.6.9-55.0.12.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Oct 17 08:15:59 EDT 2007 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux) with NRPE 2.12 (NRPE - Nagios Remote Plugin Executor, Copyright © 1999-2008 Ethan Galstad ([email protected]), Version: 2.12, Last Modified: 03-10-2008) I have many of them (appliance servers).

Added new service check to a server and restarted (Nagios and Apache on the monitoring server, NRPE on the server to be monitored). Appears on the list of service checks and checks OK.
COPIED from one window into another, the configuration to another server, edited all the applicable files, restarted all processes; does not appear on the list of services for the second server.
Where do I look for problems?
I did check all text for typos.
Verification runs work OK in all locations.

Thanks in advance!

Not sure for NRPE… on nagios it sometimes happened (haven’t seen this for a while) that you may get more than one instance of nagios running. This mainly happened using the /etc/init.d/nagios restart command. Try stopping nagios, check with ps-ef if you have anything left (kill) and start again. same goes for NRPE processes.
