I’ve got two Nagios systems. One is currently monitoring local checks on our systems with NRPE. I’m configuring a second Nagios box to also run NRPE checks on these same servers. Do I need to configure NRPE to allow checks on a separate port to allow this second host to execute these NRPE checks?
I don’t think so. It’s a service running on the remote host, and so many many clients should be able to connect to it.
Thanks for the follow-up. I posted the question because I wasn’t able to connect to the NRPE daemon from my second Nagios server. Then it occurred to me to check my LAN firewall, as this second machine is outside the LAN.
