snmp_cpu at 100% but host show no such usage

Had this happen a few times now, but it’s always the same thing. We’ll have a host running and suddenly nagios will report snmp_cpu is 100%. I login and check and cpu is nowhere near 100% and hasn’t been. Averages in top, etc show 30% at most.

I have heard, but not been able to confirm, that there is a bug in net-snmpd that causes this. Does anyone recognize this behavior? Suggestions?

what’s snmp_cpu ?
if i remeber right i used check_load via snmp… in fact i think the threee load counters are available via some standard snmp OID
